Syllabus
I made an error on the syllabus. It says there is a forum for chapters 15 and 16. That was a mistake. Because I broke one of the previous assignments into two parts (a forum for 6 and 12 each), there will be no forum for 15 and 16.
Exam
The multiple-choice portion of your exam will cover chapters 2, 4, 6 and 12. The exam is OPEN BOOK. There are 27 questions. You will have fifty (50) minutes to take the test.
Presentation
After the exam, we will do presentations. You will be given 5 minutes to make your presentation. This is your assignment: search the internet for any recent (last 5 years or so) story of corporate scandal or unethical behavior. (1) Be prepared to tell us what happened (shouldn't take more than one minute); (2) diagnose what might have caused the problem (two minutes or so); and (3) tell us how you'd fix it (two minutes). Use the material - concepts, vocabulary, etc. - in chapter 2 to formulate your answer. (1) and (2) will be fairly easy. I want you to be creative in step (3). For instance, you might talk about how stakeholders should be considered in decision-making, how individual values matter, or organizational codes of ethics. It really depends on what your topic is.
Be prepared for questioning during your presentation. I want you to convince the class that you've thought through the issue and are not just rattling off facts. You will not be allowed to simply read something you printed from the internet. By midnight Monday night, email me the name of your company only so that I'll at least know what topic you're going with. After you give your presentation, you'll hand it in to me as well. It shouldn't be any more than one or two pages. I just want to see that you're not simply reading a printout from the web and that you've completed your own work.
DO NOT PANIC. This is meant to be an informal exercise that we can all learn from.
